Michael, known to many as Mike, was married three times and was also a devoted father.

His first marriage was to Elizabeth “Liz” Pace in 1964, and they became parents to three children, including Kelly Pace Weaver and Michael Pace.

Following Liz’s passing, he found love again with his second wife, Susan Lowry Pace.

After Susan’s passing, he married his third and loving wife, Beth Pace, who stood by his side in his final moments and shared a deep and enduring bond with him.

Together, Mike and Beth were blessed with a son, Bill Fort, and built a life full of love and family in Seguin, where he spent his final years.

As a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, he adored his grandchildren Lyndsay Shearrer, Garrett Weaver, Meredith Barry, Josephine Barry, Samson Pace, and Jordan Fort.

He was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Linley Shearrer, Eli, Alyssa, and Tyler Fort.

Mike embraced the challenges of parenthood with strength and dedication, always standing by his children and, later, his grandchildren.

His legacy of love, wisdom, and resilience will live on through them.

A memorial service celebrating Mike’s life will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, with the Reverend Dr. Brice Mandaville officiating.

A private family interment will occur before the Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park service.

Former Texas City High School Athlete Michael Leslie Pace Excelled in Sales and Sports

Michael was born on August 7, 1943, in Beaumont, Texas, to parents Vivian Loretta (Johnston) and James Royce Pace.

He grew up alongside his brother, Richard Pace, forming a close bond that lasted throughout their lives.

For his education, Michael graduated from Texas City High School in 1961, where he was a talented athlete and a proud representative of his alma mater.

He later attended Lamar College before embarking on a successful career in sales. A natural salesman, Mike had an exceptional ability to connect with people.

Even into his 40s, he remained active, enjoying competitive softball for many years.

Mike’s love for life, family, and sports defined him, and his memory will continue to inspire those who knew him.
